SIG Launches Fourth Cohort

Startup Incubator-Gambia, an established non-profit organisation striving to build the next generation of entrepreneurs, foster innovation and stimulate economic growth, has launched the fourth cohort of its incubator programme. Since its inception in 2015, the industrialist organisation have incubated 62 young entrepreneurs, accelerate 26 agribusiness entrepreneurs and trained 200 youth through their intensive one-week boot camp.

Project manager Alieu Jallow said the incubator programme would last for six months and would invest 2000 Dollars on each person in the programme on commitment based and reaching the milestone of the programme.He said the services offered by Startup Incubator Gambia space and through its network of contacts in the six months business incubation and accelerator programmes includes hands-on entrepreneurship training, access to mentor, co-working spaces, access to resources and networks.

Mr. Jallow said the programme would strict on practical, theoretical and sectoral consultation engagements, whereby experts will come in and share their experience. A Startup Incubator board member Seedy Bensouda said the programme does not provide business building but can help on how to run businesses. “They should recognise the new skills they have and work on them. Wasting time would not help people to achieve what they want,”

He revealed that doing business in The Gambia have lot of challenges which many have succeeded by taking advantage of them. William Njie, also a board member reminded the fourth cohort that their commitment and passion for whatever they do depends on them. “If you are willing to achieve your goals it depends on you.” He said the six months programme would help the participants with appropriate mind-set, skills and connections necessary to succeed in their entrepreneurial journey.
